
About
Georgia Usborne is a British Performer, Choreographer, Director and Teacher based in Brooklyn, New York. She is the Founding Director of CreateART, performance and residency platform building community and supporting artists in New York City.
Performance
As a performer, Georgia appeared in Punch drunk’s immersive show ‘Sleep No More’ performing the role of Lady Macduff from 2023-2025. She has danced for choreographer Andrea Miller’s GALLIM since 2014, and continues to work with the company as a Guest Artist, Teacher and Rehearsal Director. With GALLIM, Georgia has performed toured internationally, performing in venues including The Metropolitan Museum, Lincoln Center and Grand Theater de Luxembourg. She was an original cast member of Miller’s Whale (2016), Boat (2016), Stone Skipping (2018), (c)arbon (2018) and True, Very (2019). From 2010-2013 Georgia danced with contemporary repertory company Bern Ballet in Switzerland, under the direction of Cathy Marston. In Bern Georgia had the pleasure of working with choreographers including Orjan Andersson, Alexander Ekman, Adonis Foniadakis, Johan Inger, Didy Veldman and Noa Zuk. Her recent freelance projects include a collaborations with choreographer Annie Rigney, whose work she has performed at The Joyce Theater and whom she assisted on her 2023 commission for The Martha Graham Company.
Choreography
Georgia choreographs for film, live performance and music videos, exploring honest movement as a story telling tool. As a director, her experimental dance films have appeared at multiple film festivals. Her short films Magnolia Moon (2022), Villa Dei Misteri (2021), and The Lines In Between (2023) have screened at Film Festivals internationally and won prizes in the experimental short category. Her choreography has been also been performed at venues including National Sawdust, Ace Hotel New York, Konzert Theater Bern and Purchase College, and appeared on multiple music videos.
Teaching & ILM
She teaches contemporary dance and improvisation in New York City studios and has taught at Universities institutions across the USA. She completed the Teaching Artist Project training in 2022, and has worked as a teaching artist forArts By The People and Greenwhich House Music School.
Georgia is currently training to become an Ilan Lev Method Practitioner, and will graduate from the program in 2026. The Ilan Lev Method (ILM) is a revolutionary form of hands on bodywork developed by master healer and therapist, Ilan Lev that uses movement and touch to help people improve their range of motion, reduce pain, and increase vitality. Curation & Production
Georgia cares deeply about supporting artists by making space for creative risk taking and forging a new way of engagement in the arts. From 2018 - 2019 Georgia worked as GALLIM’s Programming Coordinator, launching and managing performance events, residencies and classes at GALLIM’s Brooklyn studio. She has also worked as Event Curator and Community Organizer for women led non profit Arts on Site. In 2017 she co-founded CreateART as a platform for artists to share work at any stage of the creative process. CreateART has since grown to encompass works in progress and curated performances in venues including Ace Hotel, Gallim Studio, Center for Performance Research and The Last Frontier NYC as well as a biannual residency program powered by Gallim Dance. CreateART is fiscally sponsored by Unique Projects Inc and was awarded the 2019 & 2022 Brooklyn Arts Council community grant.
